Meet the Owner, Jacqueline Carrera Fay
In opening Grit + Polish, owner Jackie Carrera Fay is motivated by a desire to give the greater Princeton community a unique nail salon experience-clean, innovative, stylish, with top-quality service, and a sense of community.
Jackie is delighted that Grit + Polish is located in the historic Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood, where she intends to honor the spirit of this growing, multi-ethnic community.
Jackie was born and raised in New Jersey, graduating from Rutgers with a degree in communications. For two decades, she worked as a retirement benefits professional, administering retirement plans in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2015, Jackie decided she would not to return to the corporate world, and instead become an entrepreneur.
The decision to start a salon followed her reading an expose in the New York Times that described poor working conditions in the nation’s nail salons. An avid salon client Grit + Polish was founded to emphasize the client experience, while also becoming the local salon employer of choice.
Jackie and her husband, Brad, live in the historic Griggstown neighborhood in a 200-year-old farmhouse they have been restoring together, just a few miles up the D&R Canal from Grit + Polish.
